April Birchbox Review

This month was my second month receiving a Birchbox, and I still love it.

For those of you who don't know what Birchbox is, in a nutshell, you receive 4-5 samples and 1 full size product every month according to the beauty profile that you fill out. You receive beauty products (which includes hair and makeup) and one lifestyle item for $10 a month. You also can cancel at any time. It's a pretty nice "try before you buy" service, as no box is ever the same.

The theme of April's box was "rainy days". Basically the idea was that it would be more enjoyable to spend a rainy day reading a good book or playing with beauty samples instead of being bored.

This was my box:

I received: Atelier Cologne in Orange Sanguine, Color Cub Gala's Gem Collection in Gold Struck, Sumita Color Contrast Eyeliner in Suman (black), BeeKind Body Lotion, and KIND Snacks Health Grains Bar in Maple Pumpkin Seeds with Sea Salt flavor.

The Atelier Cologne in Orange Sanguine smells amazing. At first smell, it reminded me of a warm summer day at the beach. I loved it, and felt that it would be the perfect summer scent.

The nail polish, which is one of four colors exclusive to Birchbox, is a nice polish. It is more suitable for my toes (since I have a thing with dark polish on my fingers), and it is thick, but it's a really pretty color.

The Sumita Color Contrast Eyeliner was interesting. Another Birchbox exclusive, the soft wax glided on a little too well, and was easy to use; but I wish it was in brown (I'm not a big black eyeliner person), since by the day, I looked like a raccoon. But it didn't irritate my eyes, which was a plus.

I'm a fan of Gilchrist and Soames, from March's box, and the BeeKind Body Lotion was no different. It smells like a cross between orange and lemon (even though it's honey and chamomile), is super moisturizing, and is eco-friendly; meaning that it's free of parabens, phthalates, petrol-derived ingredients, mineral oil, urea, DEA, TEA, and propylene glycol.

The lifestyle extra I received was the KIND Snacks Health Grains Bar. I absolutely loved this bar. I liked the size, that it was free of preservatives, and was healthy, yet filling.

So yeah, I received a great box. I used everything in it, unlike last month, and even reused the actual box itself, to give my bestie a birthday gift.

Am I still happy with my Birchbox subscription? Yes, I am.

And the nice thing? Between last month and this month, I finally have racked up enough points, to get $10 off an order. So that's the nice thing. And you know what I'm going to buy??

Every couple of months, Birchbox will come out with a limited edition box. This month's box is the "Free for All" box which is full of products free of parabens, phthalates, sulfates, petrochemicals, and GMOs. Oh, and that burlap bag that says "Feed"? Yeah, that helps provide 10 school meals to kids globally. Pretty nice feeling, if you ask me.

Have you joined Birchbox yet? What are you waiting for? You can do it here.

  1. Sounds like another great Birchbox! Didn't you do a rating system last time or am I just crazy? I really liked that. What was your favorite product? I've never purchased the Birchbox for myself but I have gifted it before. I think it makes the best gift.
