leavin' on a jet plane

So... today all my bags are packed, I'm ready to go... I'm leaving on a jet plane, don't know when I'll be back again.... (if you don't get the reference, please go listen here and come back)

Of course I know when I will be back- Sunday- but that song has been in my head for the past week. So has Adele's "Hello". Wow... can so relate... and the video... yeah...

Anyways, today I am on a plane headed to Washington, DC, and I am a mess of emotions. Anxious, scared, excited, regretful, happy... I mean, who wouldn't be after everything happening in the world this week... We are still praying for Paris and getting new Isis videos like crazy. We get it- you hate us and want us to pay. Got it. Stop rubbing it in.

This flying thing is gonna suck. Especially getting through security. I swear I'm not a terrorist. Not even close. I should get that printed on a shirt. Well, maybe not, I may get a cavity search just because of it.

I digress.

So there are a few good things about this trip...

I get two extra days off work making this a four day weekend! And then next week because of Turkey day, I get another four day weekend. And then the week after that is my birthday, and I took Friday off. So basically, I have the next three Fridays off. Yay, go me!

No matter what is going on in DC, I will actually be staying about 45 minutes outside of the city. So, as long as we don't go into actual DC, we will be all good! There is always Mount Vernon, Arlington Cemetery, and maybe Georgetown :)

I get to get away for three days!!

Yeah, so I don't have anything else, I'm gonna go grab some flying advice from Dierks Bentley... cause you know that 737 is gonna be rockin' like a G6...

btw, I will definitely be posting on Insta, so be sure to follow me, if you aren't. And I love to Snap- my name is in my Insta profile.

Peace out Indiana.

Pumpkin Vox Box Review

I have been a member of Influenster since October 2012, and in that time I have received a handful of Vox Boxes. For those of you who don't know what Influenster is, it's a product testing & reviewing site. Basically you sign up, review some things, and your social media presence impacts whether or not you will get into a campaign, aka get a Vox Box. And the Vox Boxes are filled with FREE product- all you have to do to be eligible for an upcoming campaign is finish the one you are in (there are different tasks, ie. post a pic of the vox box on FB and insta, etc.), and take a survey at the end of the campaign. Easy Peasy!

A few weeks ago, I received one of Influenster's new Vox Boxes... the Pumpkin Vox Box. I have received a couple of boxes before and honestly, the Pumpkin Vox Box was one of those boxes that I could use almost everything.

The box included:
An Orange Mr. Sketch Scented Marker
Werther's Original Soft Caramels
Popchips (Seasalt flavor)
Goodnessknows snack squares
Ultra Downy April Fresh liquid fabric softener
Coupons for
-A free container of Yucatan Guacamole
-A free Alexia Foods side
-Money off of Mr. Sketch Scented Markers

An Orange Mr. Sketch Scented Marker
Mr. Sketch markers remind me of my childhood! They are scented markers- that actually smell like fruit, and are great to use for coloring. They are also washable.

Werther's Original Soft Caramels
I swear I could eat the whole bag in one sitting- they are great for that instant sugar fix that you need.

Popchips (Seasalt flavor)
Of all the things that I received in the box, the Popchips were my favorite. They are healthy AND yummy!

Goodnessknows snack squares
These were really good. They were just sweet enough for a sugar fix.

Ultra Downy April Fresh liquid fabric softener
I'm not a big fan of fabric softener, but since it was free- I decided to use it on my towels. Once I used it, my whole laundry room smelled like flowers and springtime. And the towels made my linen closet smell wonderful.

Yucatan Guacamole
Yummy, yummy, yummy! The guac comes in 3 flavors- regular, mild, and authentic; I picked up the one that is Mild and it was so good. I could have eaten it with a spoon. My son even liked it.

*At the time of this post, I hadn't redeemed the Alexia side coupon

Things I'm sure of...

Sometimes in life, I really don't think I know what I'm actually doing. It's almost like a "fake it till you make it" type of thing... And I'm not even sure if I'm doing that right. Especially when it comes to mothering or blogging. Nothing in life ever comes with an instruction booklet... well, it does- like electronics, legos, cars...  But nothing FREE like mothering or blogging or being a wife or other things. Ok, I'm gonna stop before I ramble myself into a corner...

Anyways, thirteen things I'm sure of are:

If thought bubbles appeared over my head at work, I would without a doubt be fired. And possibly be admitted to a mental hospital. Maybe not. But I would definitely be fired.

I will be the big three-oh in like 20 days...

People need to stop with the whole Starbucks cup... it's stupid and redtarded (see what I did there haha); well unless you get completely sarcastic about it like Tay did.

I will be in our Nation's capital in less than a week! AND I'm feeling a bit anxious and freaked out.

I really need to stop buying makeup... I made VIB at Sephora... which means that I get 20% off of EVERYTHING this weekend... oh man...

If I ever run out of creative juices, Anne's post is now printed out and taped to my desk. And Lindsay's too

Mondays tend to suck, but it is a bit better because I just came across a new linky... It's called Meetup Monday, and you can read all about it here

I will be re-branding (aka changing the title) by the first of the new year. This is your warning. Many more will come. But consider yourself put on notice.

That picture over there ------------------------------------->
is just temporary...

Hashtags are amazing... I feel as if I've hit insta fame because of them (yeah, probably not, but I feel as if I am from a small town and was just in the news and now I'm small town famous...). Check out some of my ah-mazing insta pictures here. And if you want to know more about the great hashtags, check out Sarah's post.

Today I marks my eighth month at my job... I still really like it, but I have been thinking about a new path in the new year.

Unsplash released a new set of copyright free pictures. LOVE.

Today is the thirteenth... Friday the thirteenth to be exact.

**Cheers to the weekend and Diary of a Real Housewife

A life update

November really hasn't been off to a great start for me... The time change is still messing with me, my sinuses are acting up, and my migraines are back again. But... who cares about all that? I am here to give you guys a life update... in the form of a currently post :)

R e a d i n gThe Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair That Changed America // Erik Larson

W r i t i n g | blog posts!!!

I have been somewhat absent lately, mostly due to the lack of creativity that I've had, but the other night I sat down and wrote down ALL of my blog post ideas until 2016... crazy, I know. BUT I'm excited!

L i s t e n i n g | to the many dvr'ed shows from the past week.
During the week, I usually only have enough time to watch a show or two, and even then, I have a four year old begging me to change the channel. And when he's not at home and I can blog- it's easier to listen to a show rather than sit and do nothing while watching.

T h i n k i n g | about the fact that my 30th is in less than 22 days!!!

W i s h i n g | the next week goes really really fast!
If you remember, one of the things on my 30 by 30 list was to visit Washington, DC and go see all the touristy stuff... well I finally bought my ticket and in less than a week from today I will be in the Nation's capital! To say I'm excited is putting it lightly...

H o p i n g | for my migraines and sinus issues to get better.
I've been getting some migraines lately, and after much debate, I have returned to my Topamax.

S m e l l i n g | burning leaves.

W e a r i n g | riding boots!!!
I finally grabbed me a pair of riding boots. I have rather large calves and until now, I hadn't found a pair that I was comfortable spending $50+ on. I found some brown ones at Maurices and I love them so much! I see leggings in my future.

W o n d e r i n g | if I should dye my hair or not.
I have been tossing around the idea of dying my hair honey brown- I had done it in September- and I really think I might.

L o v i n g | unconditional animal love.
I have been missing my Duce Moose lately, and everytime I ask the hubby for a puppy, he says no. Understandable... so instead of getting my own puppy, I play with my brother's/parent's akita/pit bull mix, Polar Bear. He is so gentle and sweet.

W a n t i n g | some more Mr. Sketch markers
I recieved the Pumpkin Vox Box from Influenster and in the box was an orange Mr. Sketch marker. -Influenster is one of those pretty awesome "here's a product, try it, and review it". They are primarily based on social media stats, and I want to say that the Pumpkin Vox Box is my 4th this year. My twitter and insta followings are crazy high, so basically if you are an influenster, then work on those :)

N e e d i n g | a massage... maybe just a glass of wine and a hot bath.

F e e l i n g | tired, congested, and all around worn out.
But it's ok.

M i s s i n g | nap time
I love working a Monday thru Friday job, but sometimes I miss those hours of the day when Lil Man and I would lay on the couch and just nap.

four books...

On occasion, I have sat in front of my computer, and my mind draws a blank. Sure, I've had plenty of ideas of what I've wanted to blog about, but once I start a post, it stops. The creative juices, I mean. Basically I sit down, open the laptop, look at a blank "create post" area, write a few sentences, and then nothing. I can't find the words. So, I close the laptop, and pick up a book.

And that's basically what I have been doing this week. Among other things- which I will actually be discussing tomorrow (!!!). But to me, it's ok. Because I love reading... there is no doubt about it. I love how a book can transport you to a different place and time, it can enlighten you, it can motivate you, it can scare you, and it can impact your day to day life. Reading for me, is my escape from reality.

Today I am going to tell you about four books that I have recently finished, and let you in on four more that I plan on reading by the end of the year...

The Ersatz Elevator | Lemony Snicket

I had always wanted to read Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events series... and I'm sorry I did. Though I really liked the books, they sometimes seemed to drag on- with the same endings. The series follows three orphans- Violet, Klaus, and Sunny- after the death of their parents and in each book of the series- there's 13- they are "handed" to some type of family member/guardian. Unfortunately, the first guardian wants their fortune and keeps trying to "get them" by all means possible. The movie staring Jim Carey angered me, and my recommendation is this: if you are interested in the series, head to Wikipedia and read all of the plot summaries- you will save a lot of time.

I Heart my Little A-Holes | Karen Alpert

I love when I hear that a blogger has turned into a real life author- it just give me warm fuzzies of hope. Alpert is the blogger behind Baby Sideburns and her book is downright hilarious. I couldn't put it down. She talks about how even though we love our lil ones to death, they do, on occasion, tend to be little miniaturized A-Holes. Hands down funniest book I have read all year.

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children | Ransom Riggs

This book really surprised me. In the beginning, the main character watches his beloved Grandfather die, and then a few months later, visits the island where he grew up. Without giving anything away- the book has just the right amount of suspense, fantasy, & adventure combined with interesting photography. Loved it.

A Time to Kill | John Grisham

I think that Girsham is my new favorite author; I really love his style of writing. In A Time to Kill, which was actually his FIRST novel, is set in 1980s Mississippi, and the key players are a black man on trial for the murder of the men who beat, raped, and left for dead his 10 year old little girl, and the white attorney who represents him. A Time to Kill explores racism, a parent's rage, and the difference between what is right and wrong. Also, if the title seems familiar, it's because it is- A Time to Kill was made into a movie starring Samuel L. Jackson and Matthew McConaughey in 1996.

And four books on my "to read by the end of the year" list...

The Devil in the White City | Erik Larson
Why Not Me? | Mindy Kaling
The Book Thief | Markus Zusak
Go Set a Watchman | Harper Lee

Do you enjoy reading? If so, have you finished any good ones lately?
