splurge vs. save | part two: makeup

In November, I started a little series called Splurge vs. Save. The first part was all about overall beauty, which included face wash, serums, etc. Today I am going to share part two: makeup.

Splurge

Foundation
I have tired several different foundations, but my favorite happens to be a tie between Benefit's Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow and Tarte's Amazonian Clay Airbrush Foundation. A higher priced foundation seems to be better for my face, and I don't see that much breakout.

BB/CC Cream
Like foundation, I have also tried my fair share of bb and cc creams. I have also realized that sometimes the drugstore BB's just don't cut it for me... I do love Pacifica's BB and Dr. Brandt's CC.

Lip Stick/gloss
I'm not a big lipstick gal, but I am definitely addicted to gloss. Currently I love me some Mally liquid lipstick and Stila lip glaze.
Save
Eye shadow
I used to use a Neutrogena pallet, but now I'm hooked on the Urban Decay Naked Basics Pallet. Sure is sounds weird, but if I didn't have my naked basics, I would be just as happy with the Maybelline Nudes collection.

Primer
Smashbox used to be the golden child in the family of primers, but ever since E.L.F came out with their $6 version, I've been hooked. It gives you all the benefits of a high priced, retail value primer, but leave some cash in your pocket.

Eye Liner
My favorite is Rimmel. I use the nude and taupe. Not saying I won't use high end- I've gotten a bunch in my monthly Birchbox subscription, but I am not about to be paying more than $10 for a pencil.

Face Powder
I love my CoverGirl Tru Blend minerals powder, and I am in love with the diy version of the Bare Minerals powder.

Lip Balm
Eos, Burt's Bee's, Chapstick... you name it, I have it. AND I am happy paying under $5 for a tube. I use it so much, I would rather save myself the money.

Middle of the road
Mascara
For the better part of a year, I had been addicted to Benefit's BADgal lash. But then I tried Revlon's Bold Lacquer mascara and was hooked.

Bronzer
I'm not a big bronzer fan, so I am very middle of the road on whether to splurge or save on it. I currently use Benefit's Hoola bronzer when I'm in the mood, mainly because I received it as a gift. But I really doubt I would spend more than $15 on a bronzer.

Highlighter
Another thing I'm not a big user of, so I can't really give an honest opinion on whether I spurge or save on it. I do own a deluxe sample tube of Benefit's Watt's up, but would I actually spend like thirty bucks on something I really don't use? Not really.

Concealer
I have tried CoverGirl and Benefit, and love each in a different way. I also would love to try NYX.

Have you ever tried any of the products? What did you think?

  2. My best friend SWEARS by that Tarte powder! She's been telling me about it for months and now she's got her mom hooked on it too. haha I'm pretty stuck on the Urban Decay Naked Foundation. It's light and creamy and stays all day!
