five beauty hacks every girl should know

Do you like beauty hacks? Here's 5 that every girl NEEDS to know about.

Let's face it, beauty can be hard sometimes. From deciding what your perfect foundation shade is, to figuring out what your face shape is, and even looking for money saving beauty products, beauty in itself can be a little difficult. Fortunately, it doesn't have to be. Today I am sharing five of my favorite beauty hacks, and trust me, every girl should know about them.

1. cut your plastic bottles in half

Though I broke up with my subscription boxes last year, I still have alot of little samples of products. Whenever I use a sample, I always hate that sometimes there is still product left in the container. A few months ago, I saw a tip from a girl in one of my makeup groups on Facebook, she said to try cutting the container in half when you can't squeeze anymore out. I tried it on a face wash, and you know what? I was able to get two more uses out of it. Yes, there was that much product left in the container!

2. Use witch hazel as a toner

I have never been a fan of store bought toners, because most of them contain alcohol and the formulas tend to dry out my face. Knowing that I need to use a toner, especially around my period, I use witch hazel. Generally, witch hazel is great for cleansing wounds, burns, insect bites, etc, but it can be used on the face. It's so special because it contains high levels of healing active ingredients that work to reduce inflammation, cellular damage and swelling, while also soothing wounds. I have been using it for about 6 months, and I can see a difference in my skin.

3. Use eye shadow as a eyeliner

I shared this trick on Instagram last year, and it's my favorite thing to do, because I personally don't like eyeliner, because it's difficult for me to get off of my lids, but I love the look of it. My favorite shadows to do this with are Busted (a deep brown shimmer) from the Urban Decay Naked2 palette, and Undone (a matte cross between grey and brown- like a charcoal) from the Naked2 Basics palette. The trick is to use a stiff brush (like this one), swipe it back and forth long wise in ths shadow, and then apply it as you would eyeliner. *If you experience fall out, dab the shadow along your lash line instead of dragging it.

4. Baking soda is a miracle product

Trust me when I say that there are so many beauty uses for baking soda. The two ways that I use baking soda the most are 1) adding it to my tooth paste for extra smooth and whiter teeth, and 2) as a diy microdermabrasion on my face. To use as a microdermabrasion, put some baking soda in your hand, add a little bit of water, and apply to your face in small circles. Rinse with lukewarm water.

5. Get rid of cystic acne with apple cider vinegar

I tend to get cystic acne around the time of my period, so I love to use apple cider vinegar mixed with water as a toner. It will dry out my face a bit, but all I have to do is use a good moisturizer. To use, all you have to do is put 3 parts water to 1 part apple cider vinegar in a bottle, shake, pour onto a cotton round  or cotton ball, and apply to your face. Rinse with lukewarm water.
