the easiest apple crisp I have ever made

A few weeks ago, Lil Man went on his first ever school field trip. Needless to say, but I was a little worried that he was going somewhere without a member of the family with him. In the end, he did wonderfully (at least that's what I think- I never received a note saying that he was any different), and he brought me home 5 beautiful apples that he had picked from a tree by himself.Unfortunately, I refused to let him eat the apples because they were lumpy, bumpy, and brown. When he asked why, I told him I was proud of him and promised to find something to make with them.

I knew that the most practical way to use the apples was to make apple crisp with them, and set out to find a recipe that I could make.

When choosing a recipe, I had a few requirements: 1) it had to be easy, and 2) I didn't have to go shopping; so basically, the recipe couldn't use oats or pie crust or some off the wall thing that a normal person does't have in their cupboard. I finally found a recipe from All Recipes. It had both of my requirements, and bonus- it was rather tasty.

Ingredients:

3 apples, diced (the recipe called for 2.5 cups of peeled apples, but I realized that I used 2.5 cups = 3 apples, and I left the skin on)
1 cup flour
1 cup white sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/4 tsp salt

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees, and grease an 8 inch pan/dish

2. Cut up apples.

3. Cover the bottom of your pan/dish with the diced apples.

4. Add all dry ingredients (flour, sugar, cinnamon, salt) to a bowl and combine. I used a whisk to combine them.

5. Cut in butter until mixture looks like cornmeal. I used a knife and spoon to chop up the butter and mix it in.

6. Sprinkle mixture over apples.

7. Bake 40-45 minutes until top is a golden brown.

8. Enjoy!

Lil Man and the hubby really enjoyed the apple crisp, and I would love to make it again. The apples came out really juicy, which was a huge win in my book.

Have you ever made apple crisp?
